Sajid Javid is out of the Tory leadership contest

The home secretary Sajid Javid has lost the race for No. 10 Downing Street. All 313 Conservative MPs voted on Thursday’s secret ballot, and papers were spoilt.

Boris Johnson the front runner came in with 157 votes, Michael Gove with 61, creeping ahead of Jeremy Hunt, whilst Hunt received 59 votes and Sajid Javid gained just 34.

A fifth round of voting will continue today between 15:30 and 17:30 where the final two Tory leadership candidates will be selected, results should be delivered by 18:15 on Thursday.
