Family Pays Tribute to 45-Year-Old, Who Was a Popular Figure in Fashion and Reality TV
Tabby Brown, a former Playboy model who was romantically linked to football stars Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli, tragically passed away following a Brazilian butt-lift (BBL) procedure in the Dominican Republic. The 45-year-old, who graced the pages of Cosmopolitan and Elle magazines, collapsed just days after returning to the UK from her surgery in October of last year.
An inquest revealed that Ms Brown, who had undergone the cosmetic surgery as well as liposuction, suffered a fatal fat embolism—an extremely rare but known complication of the BBL procedure. The incident occurred at her home in south London, where her mother discovered her unconscious on the floor on October 13.
The procedure, which involves harvesting fat from the torso and injecting it into the buttocks, is known to carry significant risks, including fat embolisms, which can result in death. Experts testified at the inquest that the embolism, caused by the liposuction performed during the surgery, was the direct cause of Ms Brown’s death.
Tabby Brown, whose career in the modelling industry and TV reality shows like The Bachelor earned her recognition, had been well-liked both professionally and personally. She had also featured in music videos for notable British and American artists, further cementing her place in the public eye.
Her family paid a heartfelt tribute, stating, “Tabby had enjoyed a successful career as a model, having featured in music videos of several well-known British and American artists. She had a big laugh, smile, and a personality that charmed many and matched her beauty.” They added that while her passing was a premature and devastating loss, they took comfort in the fact that she had lived out many of her dreams.
The inquest concluded with a narrative verdict, with Coroner Julian Morris noting that Ms Brown had been “fit and healthy” before travelling for the surgery and that the procedure was ultimately the cause of her untimely death.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of cosmetic surgery, particularly the Brazilian butt-lift, which has been linked to several fatalities due to complications such as fat embolisms.
